Warner Bros.’ upcoming supervillain team-up Suicide Squad has already become infamous for its numerous production stories about the lengths certain cast members went to get into character. (We’re looking squarely at you, Jared Leto). And the latest addition to this collection of bizarre Method-acting tales comes from model–turned–actress Cara Delevingne.

In a new cover story for W magazine, Delevingne confesses that, in order to nab the part of Enchantress — a powerful sorceress who’s recruited by the government to join forces with the likes of Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn and Will Smith’s Deadshot on a deadly mission — she followed her director David Ayers’ advice on how to fully understand the character. Hint: It required a trip to the woods and little clothing.

“There still wasn’t a script, but David asked me to go and try and find a forest and, if it was a full moon, get naked and walk through the woods with my feet in the mud, which I did. There wasn’t a full moon, but I howled like a wolf. It would have been really funny if someone had seen me.”

Given her affinity for the role of Enchantress from the moment Ayers “spoke to me about addiction and mental illness, which are things I find very, very interesting,” it’s probably not too stunning that Delevingne did her best wild-animal routine in order to prepare for the film. Regardless, she’s now made herself a legitimate challenger to Leto’s wackadoo crown.

We’ll have to wait until Suicide Squad’s Aug. 5 release to know if such preparation helped produce a genuinely ferocious Delevingne performance. You can read her entire interview with W magazine here.
