How to Wear Over-the-Knee Boots IRL

In theory, you love over-the-knee boots. They caught your eye in Gisele Bundchen’s Stuart Weitzman ads last year. Then Raf Simons sent lucite-heeled patent leather ones down Dior’s AW15 runway, and now you’re noticing some version in nearly every store. You want them, and yet, you’re not quite sure how to wear them without looking like, well, a little bit slutty. Good news: It’s not that hard.

In the latest episode of Three Ways, we tackle this season’s number one shoe trend, the boot that hits halfway up your thigh. Our in-house stylist Chris Kim offers a handful of helpful tips to steer you in the right direction so you can pull them off from work to play—seriously.

First, they will always work with a dress that hits just below the top of the boot. That inch or two of extra fabric actually makes the look quite conservative (until the wind blows a certain way). Second, unless you’re only going to wear them out on Saturday nights, avoid a stiletto. From Gianvito Rossi to Zara, there are plenty of options featuring low, easy to wear heels.
