You may associate suede with colder weather, but the SS16 catwalk shows were full of it and now the high street has followed suit. The key to wearing suede at this time of the year is to disassociate it from boots and coats and open your mind up to wearing it in more innovative ways and in brighter colours. This is the hot fabric for spring 2016, so you’re going to need to get shopping. I’ve put together a round-up of what should be top of your list…

This playsuit from Stacey Solomon’s range at LookAgain.co.uk (£50) is a beautiful statement way to incorporate some faux suede into your outfit. It has cute side pockets and a pretty scallop trim hem.

Sandals are a great warm weather way to do suede footwear. Choose them in bright shade, like these ones fringed ones from Office (£45), to add a pop of colour to an outfit. Fringing is also everywhere at the moment and the easiest and most subtle place to wear it is on accessories. This grey fringed tote bag from Love My Soul (£95) is a chic way to lug around all the bits you carry.

Biker jackets are in this season, so if you choose a suede one you’ll be bang on trend. This luxuriously soft pale blue one from Topshop (£185) will go with just about anything. Don’t be afraid to throw it over an evening dress to grunge things up a little.

This fun pink faux suede mini skirt from River Island (£30) looks like a wrap-around but has a handy concealed zip fastening at the back. It would look fabulous with heels and a biker jacket.

A suedette t-shirt is much more interesting than a classic tee. This one from Oasis (£15) has such a flattering cut, but it’s still crying out for a statement necklace.
