Howell's Motorsports Gateway has partnered with a famous racing team
HOWELL — A large automotive district under construction in Howell has partnered with a celebrated sports car racing team.
Motorsports Gateway, coming soon to Howell, has announced a "strategic alliance" with New Hudson-based Pratt Miller Motorsports, known for its Corvette racing team.
The partnership was announced at the Rolex 24 at Dayton, a 24-hour endurance race at the Daytona International Speedway, in January.
The district in Howell will be developed in phases on about 273 acres north of I-96 between D-19/Michigan Avenue and Lucy Road. Plans include a members-only driving circuit, trackside garage condos, garages for rent by members, an automotive innovation business park, and a mixed-use zone for retail, restaurants, entertainment and other commercial businesses.
"This strategic alliance not only enhances our brand's presence in the world of motorsports but also heralds a new chapter in providing exclusive, adrenaline-fueled experiences to our members," Motorsports Gateway officials wrote in a release.
Some benefits for Motorsports members include exclusive tours of Pratt Miller Motorsports' pit, garage and trailer; behind-the-scenes access to the team's New Hudson headquarters; meet-and-greets with professional racers and executives; and front-row seats at race car "shakedowns," according to the release.
Motorsports Gateway's logo will appear on Pratt Miller Motorsports cars, transporters, and garage and pit equipment.
Officials say it'll give people "a home team to cheer for."
