Oct. 28—Dog and cat lovers will have a chance to celebrate Halloween with their fur friends, enjoy some Halloween goodies and maybe even help to rescue some kitties and pups.

D&S Harley-Davidson, at 3846 S. Pacific Highway, will host a Howl-O-Ween pet adoption event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29. The event includes a pet costume contest, photos on a Harley-Davidson and adoptable dogs from Yreka Rescue Ranch, plus Siberian huskies and German shepherds from Goliath Mountain Rescue in Yreka and kittens and cats from Melly Cat Rescue in the Rogue Valley.

The event will feature a slew of kitties with game-themed names like Atari, Sega, Rubiks, Uno, Yahtzee and Chutes and Ladders, and a range of dog sizes and breeds.

Kim O'Toole, co-owner of D&S Harley, said her team, which moved back to its Phoenix location in June after it was rebuilt following the Almeda Fire, said she looked forward to the chance to see "so many cute cats and dogs."

"It's so exciting to be back in our building where we can do these events for the community, for charities, for the local animal rescues again," O'Toole said.

"We think we'll have three rescue (organizations) coming in, so there will be so many cute faces. I know there will be an adorable litter of Pit puppies showing up, too."

Attendees are welcome to bring their own pets to the store in costume to win prizes and enter raffle drawings. Vendors, including Red Dog Pet Supply and Figaro's Pizza, will also be on hand. All proceeds go to participating rescues.
