Hoy Menear, state rep from Lee, dies

Nov. 13—CONCORD — State Rep. Hoy R. Menear, D-Lee, who had served on the House State-Federal Relations and Veterans Committee, has died.

"Rep. Menear was a valuable member of our House Democratic Caucus and will be dearly missed by his colleagues on both sides of the aisle," House Democratic Leader Matt Wilhelm of Manchester said in a statement.

"He leaves behind a legacy of service to the Granite State. Our hearts are with his family, friends, and constituents."

According to Wilhelm, Menear won a seat in 2012 and then decided to run a decade later at the urging of a friend and colleague, Rep. Dennis Molloy, D-Greenland.

Menear served in a district that included Dover Ward 4, Lee and Madbury.
