Horst Hrubesch is ready to continue as interim coach of the German women's national team even if they don't qualify for the Paris Olympics via the upcoming Nations League Finals.

The team is without a head coach since the national federation DFB parted ways with Martina Voss-Tecklenburg in November. A new coach is yet to be named.

Hrubesch has coached the team since October, when Voss-Tecklenburg was on sick leave, and it has been agreed that he will be in charge at the Paris Games as well.

Should they not make it later in February, Hrubesch said on Wednesday that "it would be quite normal" to remain available in a possible trnsition period.

"But this is decided by the DFB and I am not involved," he said.

He said the final decision will lie with women's sporting director Nia Künzer and DFB managing director Andreas Rettig who also lead the search for a new coach.

Germany will qualify for Paris if they beat France in the February 23 semi-final or win the match for third place. France are directly qualified as Olympic hosts and two tickets are available via the Nations League Finals.

The other semi-final, also on February 23, is between world champions Spain and the Netherlands. The final and match for third place are on February 28.

The next international games are in April in the next Nations League which also serve as qualifiers for Euro 2025 in Switzerland.

The German women won Olympic gold in 2016 but failed to qualify for the last Games in 2021. Hrubesch won Olympic silver with the men's team in 2016.
