HS BASKETBALL: Blue Mountain rallies past Pine Grove in boys' basketball

Jan. 27—PINE GROVE — Isaac Thomas and Carson Kerstetter provided most of the offensive punch as Blue Mountain rallied in the fourth quarter to earn a 70-68 Schuylkill League Division I boys' basketball victory over Pine Grove on Friday night.

Thomas scored eight of his 20 total points in the final eight minutes, and Kerstetter added five of his 22 as the Eagles overcame a 56-52 deficit after three quarters.

Brandon Campbell and Tyler Miller added 11 each for Blue Mountain.

For Pine Grove, Garrett Brandt fired in a game-high 33 points. Brandon Unger added 12.

Stephen Hood scored a game-high 20 points to lead Panther Valley. Chase Weaver followed with 13, and Drew Kokinda contributed 12.

TAMAQUA — Noah Rosahac scored a game-high 28 points as Jim Thorpe defeated Tamaqua in overtime in Division I action.

Rosahac had three points in OT, while Andrew Warner netted four of his 13 points in the extra period. Joshua Spruill chipped in 10 points for the Olympians.

Connor Dillon led Tamaqua with 16 points, and Noah Mateyak added 15.

Jim Thorpe outscored Tamaqua 10-2 in overtime. A pair of free throws by Dillon accounted for the Blue Raiders' points.

Tri-Valley's Scheib makes Bedford semifinals

BEDFORD — Jacob Scheib of Tri-Valley earned a 10-1 major decision over Greenville's Teage Calvin on Friday to advance to the semifinals at the Thomas Automotive Wrestling Classic at Bedford High School.

Action is scheduled to resume at 9 a.m. today. The consolation finals will be at 4 p.m., with the championship finals at 5:30 p.m.

North Schuylkill's Noah Gilgore (107) and Kaden Casey (114) as well as Tri-Valley's Hunter Troutman (133) and Justis Troutman (285) dropped quarterfinals bouts. They are still alive in the consolations.

Other Spartans continuing in the wrestlebacks: Nate Sterner (127), Jimmy Weikel (139), Ricky Halford (160) and Jared Tinari (215).
