HS Roundup: Buckeye Trail volleyball opens season with road win over St. C

ST. CLAIRSVILLE - Buckeye Trail opened the new season with a road sweep over St. Clairsville in non-league volleyball action Monday evening.

The Lady Warriors collected the win by scores of 25-19, 25-9 and 25-14 to begin the new season at 1-0.

Leading the way for the winners was Grace Shipe with 11 points, three aces, 10 assists, with Kayleigh Abrams also picking up 11 points, with an ace and two kills. Ava McVicker had a busy night with 11-11 serving, six points, two digs, 10 kills and 16 assists.

Jose Creighton chipped in with nine points, three ace, 12-13 serving, six kills, while Kaydence Starr finished with 2 points, 7-8 serving and nine kills. Ally Carpenter contributed seven points, ace, three digs and five kills.

NEXT - Buckeye Trail travels to St, John Central on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Shenandoah 3, Cambridge 0

Visiting Shenandoah High collected a clean sweep over Cambridge in varsity volleyball action on Monday evening inside Gene Ford Gymnasium.

The Lady Bobcats battled in the first set falling 23-25, before the Lady Zeps took control winning the next two sets by scores of 25-9 and 25-11 to sweep the match 3-0.

Cambridge (1-1) was led by Ryan Dunning with five kills, five digs, and 5-6 serving. Kylie Taylor added a kill, eight digs and was a perfect 9-9 serving. Kaitlyn Biddle picked up three kills to go with eight digs and 10 assists, Xylvia Francis contributed five digs and Abby Mann was 11-11 from the service line.

NEXT - Cambridge will host Union Local on Saturday morning starting at 10 a.m.
