HS Roundup: Cambridge golfers slip past Tri-Valley

ZANESVILLE - Bradyn Gregg captured medalist honors with a round of 42 to lead Cambridge High to a 190-200 victory over host Tri-Valley in high school golf at Virtues Golf Course on Wednesday.

Rounding out the Bobcats' scoring was Jackson Reed with 44, Aidan Castello 49, and Jax VanDyne 55.

NEXT - Cambridge will next take part in the Buckeye 8 Tournament on Tuesday at the Belmont Hills Country Club.

BOYS SOCCER

John Glenn 4, Tri-Valley 2

NEW CONCORD - Host John Glenn's boys soccer squad held its 'Kick if for Mick' event on Tuesday evening and doubled up on Tri-Valley for a 4-2 victory.

Ahston Driggs and Kanon Riehl each tallied a pair of goals for the Muskies. Handing out assists for JG were Jackson Blagg, Kanon Riehl, and Aarav Vaishnav.

"Thanks to everyone who came out to support our special night in memory of Mick Amicone," John Glenn head coach Will Hess stated.

In JV action, the Muskies finished with a 2-2 draw. Ben Stamm and Kaleb Larhmer scored goals, with Abram Dean and Cameron West picking up assists.

Cambridge 2, Harrison Central 1

Cambridge's boys soccer team picked up 2-1 victory over visiting Harrison Central on Tuesday on the brand new turf at McFarland Stadium.

Steeler Sylvis and Lucas Parsons scored goals to lead the Bobcats' scoring effort in the match. Parsons' goal broke a 1-1 halftime tie. Briley Hamm collected an assist for the Bobcats who improve to 1-2 on the season.

CHS goal keeper Andrew LePlante shut out the Huskies in the second half, finishing with five saves on the night.

NEXT- Cambridge stays in Buckeye 8 action on Saturday, with a road match at Carrollton High School at 1 p.m.

GIRLS SOCCER

John Glenn 1, Tri-Valley 1

DRESDEN- Host Tri-Valley and JOhn Glenn battled to a 1-1 draw in an early Muskingum Valley League girls soccer tussle.

Lexi Klotzbach got the Lady Scotties on the board 7:00 minutes into the game off an Ally Barclay assist for a 1-0 lead. Riley Zamensky scored to pull the Lady Muskies even at 1-1 with 20 minutes left in the game.

Alison Yingling had 7 saves for Tri-Valley (1-1-1), while Faith Lemon collected 13 saves for John Glenn (1-2-2).

NEXT - John Glenn will host Jonathan Elder on Saturday at 3 p.m.

VOLLEYBALL

Buckeye Trail def. St. John Central, 25-6, 25-4, 25-7

BELLAIRE - Buckeye Trail improved to a perfect 2-0 to start the new volleyball season with a 25-6, 25-4, 25-7 sweep over St. John Central on Wednesday evening.

Anna McVicker had a record setting night for the Lady Warriors, with 18 aces to set the new school single game record. McVicker racked up 21 points, handed on 18 assists, had two kills and was 22-24 serving. Josie Creighton enjoyed a solid scoring night also with 20 points, seven aces, with 11 kills and a block.

Kaydence Starr tallied 10 points, with six kills, one assist, while Kayleigh Abrams finished with nine points, five aces, seven assists. Grace Shipe scored four points, two aces, seven assists.

NEXT - Buckeye Trail will host Philo on Saturday, with JV action starting at 11 a.m
