HS ROUNDUP: Lakeland boys track beats Dunmore on tiebreaker with more first-place finishes

Apr. 21—Jon Seamans won the 100- and 200-meter dashes and contributed to a win in the 400-meter relay to lead Lakeland to a tiebreaker win over Dunmore on Thursday in a Lackawanna Track Conference Division III boys meet.

Both teams finished with 75 points, but the Chiefs had 11 first-place finishes to Dunmore's seven, which secured the overall win.

Pietro Cocquino added wins in the long and triple jump, while Thomas Rohan won the 3,200, Lyndon Bello won the discus, Dominico Spataro won the javelin, Talin Vitzakovitch won the high jump, and Jaden Poklemba won the pole vault for Lakeland.

Tommy Clark won the 1,600 and 800 to lead Dunmore.

Girls track

Kaylyn Davis won the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles, Emily Black won the 1,600 and the 800, Kirsten Navich won the 400 and triple jump, Brooke Hill won the 100 and 200, and Anna Liuzzo won the shot put and discus as Lakeland defeated Dunmore, 115-35, in a battle of two undefeated teams in Division III.

The Lady Chiefs are the lone unbeaten team in the division with two meets remaining and have won 55 straight dual meets.

Dunmore's Maura Michalczyk broke her school record in the pole vault with a clearance of 11 feet, 3 inches. It beat her record of 10-6, which she set earlier this season.

Max Mickel ripped a two-run double during Honesdale's six-run top of the eighth as the Hornets pulled away for a 9-6 win over host Wallenpaupack in a Lackawanna League Division I-II crossover Thursday

Mickel went 3 for 4 with and drove in three runs for the Hornets, who scored two runs in the top of the seventh to tie it at 3. Grant Tonkin had two RBIs and starting pitcher Peter Modrovsky struck out eight and allowed two earned runs in six innings.

Jordan Santiago and Elijah Peifer each drove in two runs for Wallenpaupack, and starter Jake Holbert fanned seven and allowed one run in five innings.
