HS Roundup: Ridgewood downs Kingsway Christian

ORRVILLE — Chris Matthews and Kauelen Smith each collected double-doubles as visiting Ridgewood outlasted Kingsway Christian 59-51 on Friday night.

Smith totaled 17 points and 12 rebounds and Matthews added 17 points and 11 boards to pace the the Generals (3-9), who were down 15-12 after one quarter, but tied it at 30 at the half. It was 38-all going to the fourth.

Logan Ridenbaugh added 15 points, Grant Lahmers scored six and Jackson Cabot had four points for Ridgewood.

Matthews also went 5 of 9 at the line, while Ridenbaugh and Smith each hit a pair of 3s in the win.

Jadin Himes had 13 points and Tristan Bischoff added nine points for the Eagles, who made 13 of 19 free throws compared to an 8-of-19 effort by the Generals.

New Lexington 65, Coshocton 39: Isaiah Stephens poured in 26 points, including a 10-of-11 effort at the line, as the visiting Panthers (12-3, 6-3) outscored the Redskins 37-15 in the second half of a MVL Small School Division win.

Stephens scored seven and Lukas Ratliff and Bentley Hanson hit 3s in the first quarter to put New Lex up 17-11 through one, and the lead was 28-24 at the half, as Stephens had nine points in the second.

Ratliff sparked the Panthers in the third, hitting a pair of 3s during his 11-point stanza, as their lead was 46-34 through three quarters, while Stephens, who had four rebounds and four assists, made 7 of 8 free throws in the fourth to help seal it.

Ratliff added 14 points and six rebounds, Hanson scored nine with four boards, Ryan Hobbs had eight points and Isaac Dick chipped in six points, 6 of 6 at the line, with three rebounds and three assists in the win.

New Lex finished 23 of 43 from the field, 6 of 12 on 3s, and 25 of 32 at the line, while Coshocton was held to 16-of-52 shooting, including 6-of-24 behind the arc.

Bentley Cunningham led the Redskins (4-7, 2-7) with 12 points, Colton Conkle had 11 points, six steals and six rebounds and Antwone Johns added six points and nine boards.

Maysville 63, River View 49: Alex Bobb hit five 3-pointers among a game-high 28 points to lead the unbeaten Panthers (13-0), who remained atop the Muskingum Valley League-Big School Division with a road win at Luther Stover Gymnasium.

Bobb hit all of his 3s in the first three quarters, as he and Hayden Jarrett combined for 46 points in building leads of 31-22 at the half and 48-32 after three quarters.

Cole Roberts hit a trio of 3s among his nine points for the Panthers (9-0 MVL-Big), who had nine 3s.

Sophomore wing Laired Williamson tallied 12 points in on one of his highest scoring outputs of the season, but top scorers Owen Emig (10) and Brody Border (seven) were held to a combined 17 points — less than half their average. The Black Bears (5-7, 1-7) hit only one 3-pointer.

Bowling

River View girls top Garaway: The Lady Bears moved to 9-0 overall and 7-0 in conference play with a 1,673-1,334 victory in conference play on Thursday at Legacy Lanes.

Leading the way for the Lady Bears were senior Saylor Starkey with a 307, 2 game set, sophomore Maeve Gentile with a 296, 2 game set, and junior Joni Winland with a 264, 2 game set.

The JV Lady Bears were also in action and leading the way were freshman Annie Ward with a 165 (PR) game and a 274 (PR), 2 game set, freshman Zoe Hardesty with a 271 (PR), 2 game set, and junior Jayden Rice with a 221 (PR), 2 game set.

Middle School Basketball

Coshocton eighth grade girls edged Meadowbrook 23-20, as Abby Fauver scored 13 and Lilly Braxton and Chloe Talbott added four each. Coshocton seventh grade lost 51-8, as Josaline Leasure had three points and Zoey Tumblin added two points.
