HS Roundup: River View surges past Tri-Valley

DRESDEN — Visiting River View scored two quick goals to open the second half and held off Tri-Valley for a 3-2 win in Muskingum Valley League boys soccer on Tuesday.

Remington Graham got the Black Bears on the board first, but Gael Oseguera answered for the Scotties later in the first half, as the game was tied at 1 at the break.

Yuvi Bastola added a goal in the second half for Tri-Valley.

No other information was available.

Philo 2, Coshocton 1: Brent McManes scored both of the Electrics' goals, and Hunter Wallace made five saves for the winners.

No leaders were available for Coshocton.

Girls Golf

River View earns district berth: Paige Nicely led the Lady Bears with a personal-best round of 80 and finished fourth overall, as River View came in third with 378 in the Division II sectional tournament at Carroll Meadows.

Caily Shriver shot 95, Kortnee Mickle 98 and Chloey Geog 105 to round out the River View scoring.

The top six teams and six individuals on non-qualifying teams earned berths to the district meet.

Garaway won the team title with 322 behind medalist Sammi Miller's 74, while Carrollton was second (351), Tusky Valley fourth (390), Claymont fifth (406) and Fort Frye sixth (413).

Malvern's Lauren Brown (78), St. Clairsville's Olivia Baker (82), West Holmes' Kenzie Woods (85), Barnesville's Breanna Flood (87) and Harrison Central's Kaily Banal (89) and Philo's Brianna Mortimer (91) earned individual berths.

Ridgewood finished 10th (448), as Jacey Hess carded 99, Julia Geer 113, Gianna Menapace 116 and Jessica Thompson 120. Josie Stanton also had 126.

The Inter-Valley Conference also released its all-conference girls golf team, as Hess made second team, and Stanton received honorable mention for Ridgewood.

Volleyball

New Lexington 25, 25, 25, Coshocton 21, 21, 22: Jerilynn Koehler tallied 17 kills with five digs and Chloe Dick added eight kills and six digs to lead the Panthers' sweep of the Lady 'Skins in Small School action.

Lizzie Ellis passed out 37 assists, Nora Duperow had seven kills and five digs and Trinity Cook made seven digs with two kills for New Lex (13-2, 9-2).

Leading the 'Skins (11-5, 7-4) were Jalynn West, who dished out 29 assists to go along with nine digs and four kills, Lindsay Bryant, who had nine kills and seven digs, Kenidi Jackson who collected seven kills and four digs and Miyah Davis, who led the defense with 14 digs.

In the reserve contest, New Lex defeated Coshocton 25-10, 25-14, as Caroline Dupler had six kills, four digs and two blocks and Jorja Burkhart 14 assists. Coshocton (5-10) was led by Jaeli Tiedt with six assists and Maggie Laaper with four kills.

River View 25, 25, 25, Philo 11, 9, 13: Kayla Dulgar collected 15 kills, 14 assists, eight digs and three aces, along with 100% serving, as the Lady Bears (10-7, 7-5) took down the visiting Electrics (5-11, 4-8).

Cayla Shrimplin tallied 10 digs with 100% serving, Bailey Laudick had seven kills, eight digs and 100% serving, Haley Balo chipped in eight kills, four aces and three blocks, Brittany Henderson had 14 assists and Alivia Spaulding added eight kills.

Aleigha Busse tallied four kills, three digs, three aces and two blocks to lead Philo, while Brooklyn Ferrell had six digs, Olivia Fink five kills, Addyson Khune eight assists and Olivia Winland eight digs and two kills.

Philo reserves won 25-18, 25-23 behind Fink with four kills and eight digs, Halli Harris 10 assists and two aces, Parker Hina 12 digs, three kills and 100% serving, Lauren Morehouse six kills and Makenna Staker nine digs, three aces, two kills and 100% serving. Shaelyn Yoder, Riah Fox and Jenna Shoults had four points each for River View.

Hiland 25, 25, 25, Ridgewood 10, 7, 22: Kaelynn Robinson had 10 kills and nine digs and Kya Masloski added eight points, three digs and three assists, as the Generals fell to the Hawks in Inter-Valley Conference play.

Skylar Wright made 10 digs with five points, while Anyssa Cutlip added three blocks, two kills and two digs, Tarryn Yoder nine assists and six digs and Kelley Masloski six assists and four digs.

Girls Soccer

West Holmes 9, Coshocton 2: The Lady 'Skins fell behind 2-0 before rallying to tie it at 2, but six goals by Allie McMillen was too much in the Knights' victory.

McMillen made it 2-0 West Holmes with two goals in the first 10 minutes of the match.

Isabelle Lauvray answered with a pair of goals off assists by Juila Cutrina Bach and Anna Braxton, but McMillen struck twice in the final two minutes of the first half to give the Knights all the momentum entering the second half.

Destiny Frye made six saves and Courtney Snyder had four stops for Coshocton, as coach Kimmie Underwood praised her team's effort and heart, especially in the first half.

Hiland 6, River View 0: The Lady Bears were shutout by the Hawks, but no other information was available.

Junior High Golf

River View 161, Tri-Valley 221: Gavin Gress carded a 34 on a rainy, cold afternoon to lead the Black Bears at The Virtues.

Colton Gress chipped in a 38, Clark Frischen shot 42 and Brynn Harstine totaled a 47 for River View.
