HS Roundup: Sheridan baseball rolls over Logan Elm

THORNVILLE — AJ Winders collected a double, two singles and four RBIs, as host Sheridan improved to 8-2 with a 16-5 five-inning mercy of Logan Elm on Tuesday.

The Generals trailed 3-0 going to the home half of the second where they plated seven runs. Winders hit a two-run double to start the scoring and Coyle Withrow singled home a pair of runs to cap the frame.

Blake Turns added three singles, Austin Clifton chipped in a double, a single and two RBIs, Caden Sheridan hit two singles and Withrow knocked in three runs.

Bryson Ruff earned the complete game win, scattering eight hits, fanning three and walking one in five innings.

River View 12, Zanesville 0 (5 inn.): Owen Emig, Brody Shrimplin and Mack Wilson knocked in two runs apiece for the Black Bears, who used a four-run third inning to break the game open.

Shrimplin finished with a double and two singles, Emig doubled and singled and four other players had RBIs as River View improved to 7-2. Wilson also scattered three hits with eight strikeouts for the complete game win.

Mikey Johnson, Preston Moorehead and Tyson Kimble had hits for the Blue Devils, while Caleb Underwood gave up six runs on four hits in three innings to take the loss.

Softball

Fredericktown 14, West Muskingum 9: Cadence Puckett went 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, three RBIs and three runs scored in the Tornadoes' loss.

Lydiah Huey doubled twice with two RBIs, Zoie Settles had three hits and two RBIs, Gracie Settles added three hits, and Addy Antonetz, Gabbi Hammer and Kate Foster also had two hits apiece for the West M offense, which had 20 total hits.

West M held leads of 4-1 after one, 7-3 through the top of the third and 8-6 going to the bottom of the fourth where the host Freddies plated three runs then added five in the fifth for a 14-8 lead.

Kadie Bare took the loss in relief.

Track

River View boys edge Philo in MVL tri: The Black Bears scored 60.5 to the Electrics' 59.5 with Tri-Valley third (55), while the Philo girls won with 67 to Tri-Valley's 58.5 and River View's 45.5.

Chet Yoder, Nathan Adams, Brody Johnson and Trey Skjold in the 4x800 (10:14); Jan Furio, Bodey Richard, Wyatt Barnett and Wyatt Weese in the 4x200 (1:45.35); Koda Klein, Bruno Miller, Parker Andrews and Jamal Watts in the 4x100 (45.76); Landon Cochran in the 800 (2:23.49); Drew Tumblin in the 3,200 (10:58); Carter Knicely in the pole vault (11-0); and Remington Graham in the long jump (16-9) were winners for the RV boys.

Aidan Mahon took first in the 200 (23.73) and 400 (53.33), Alex Evans won the 300 hurdles (44.5), Evans, Corgan Goldean, Jacob Savage and Mahon were first in the 4x400 (3:50) and Ethan Wickham placed first in the high jump (6-2) for the Philo boys, while Anna Stutes took the 100 (13.32) and long jump (14-6 1/2), Makenna Staker, Aleigha Busse, Sara Searls and Stutes won the 4x200 (1:56.8), Halli Harris was first in the 400 (1:06.92), Staker won the 300 hurdles (51.42), Jenna Lytton claimed the 800 (2:45.73) and Lytton, Emma Swope, Emily Irvin and Busse captured the 4x400 (5:04) for the Philo girls.

Kamyn Karns took first in the 110 hurdles (16.23), Jayden Wallace was first in the 100 (11.6), Dalton Crozier placed first in the 1,600 (4:58), Micah Shupert was first in the shot (39-1) and Chris Gargasz won the discus (132-9) for the TV boys, while Lauren Cox, Gwendolyn Lacy, Emily Tezen and Peyton Mills won the 4x800 (12:45), Taylor Crozier was first in the 1,600 (5:46), Katherine Martin took first in the 200 (28.03) and Mackenzie Harvey won the shot (30-8), discus (113-2) and high jump (4-10) for the TV girls.

Kirsten Courtright won the 100 hurdles (17.71) and pole vault (8-0), Cortney Bookless, Ashlyn Tumblin, Kylie Miller and Alyssa Fox were first in the 4x100 (54.96) and Kylan Wesney was first in the 3,200 (19:00) for the RV girls.

John Glenn sweeps tri-meet: The John Glenn girls scored 100 points to top Meadowbrook's 32 and Morgan's 29, while the Muskie boys tallied 74 points to Meadowbrook's 58 and Morgan's 37.

Winning for the Muskie girls were Jessica Church in the 100 (13.17) and 400 (1:02.03), Riley Zamensky in the 200 (28.6), Kira Kaiser in the 800 (2:36), Waverly Yurco in the 1,600 (6:22), Marina Nicolozakes, Charlie Ford, Zamensky and Becca Spohn in the 4x200 (1:54.72), Grace Lawrence, Alaina Sigman, Breonna Cosgrove and Laurie Baughman in the 4x800 (11:22), Brayden Snider in the pole vault (11-0) and Chelsea Sotherden in the shot (34-0 1/2) and discus (107-6).

Cameron House was first in the 400 (55.2), Isaac Duran took the 800 (2:29) and 1,600 (5:28), Cash Smith won the 110 hurdles (24.37), House, Evan Rector, Nick Biddinger and Will Nicolzakes were first in the 4x200 (1:36.4), Ian Davis, Carson Clouse, Tanner Caudill and Caiden Lake claimed the 4x800 (9:07) and Alex Smith was first in the pole vault (12-1) for the John Glenn boys.

Odessa Smith won the 100 hurdles (15.11), 300 hurdles (48.66) and long jump (16-2 1/4) and Shannon Cooper, Aleah Bogue, Daicy Hodge and Smith were first in the 4x400 (4:40) for the Morgan girls, while Kyle Campbell took the 100 (11.16) and 200 (23.17), Trayton Nelson won the 3,200 (11:44) and Adam Cooper claimed the 300 hurdles (46.64) for the Raider boys.

Aaliyah Berger, Avery Black, Kaylee Minney and Jostalyn Hunt won the 4x100 (53.1) and Camden Black was first in the high jump (5-6 1/4) for the Colt girls, while the 4x100 of Daylin Rivera, Zack Kneisley, Noah Farley and Carter Watson (47.22), the 4x400 of Max Epperson, Nick Norman, Farley and Ethan Furbee (3:50), Furbee in the high jump (6-0) and long jump (18-6 1/2), Talon Cannon in the shot (43-8) and Bailey Khune in the discus (133-4) won for the Colt boys.

Crooksville hosts MVL tri-meet: The Ceramics hosted their first track meet at their new facility with Coshocton and Maysville taking part in the event.

Coshocton's Israel Rice in the 100 (11.96) and 200 (25.02), Aiden Braxton in the 400 (54.68) and high jump (5-10), Caden Griffiths in the 3,200 (12:26) and Severeign Workman in the shot (44-2) were winners for the boys, while Julia Cutrina in the 100 (14.64) and the 4x100 (56.44), 4x200 (2:00.38) and 4x800 (11:42) relays placed first for the girls.

Maysville's Caleb Monlux won the 800 (2:21.27), Greyson Wood took the 1,600 (5:00), Vincent Pratt swept the 110 (17.8) and 300 hurdles (44.11) and placed first in the long jump (18-3) and the 4x100 (47.49), 4x400 (3:56) and 4x800 (9:56) relays were first for the boys, and Hannah Slack took first in the 200 (30.21) and Kelsie Bryan won the 100 hurdles (22.06) for the girls.

Crooksville's Grayson Houk in the boys triple jump (36-8 1/2), Ashton Childress in the boys discus (124-4), Meg Mumford in the girls 400 (1:07.34), Angelina Wood in the 800 (2:40.96), Hannah Sheets in the 1,600 (5:46), Laken Hall in the 300 hurdles (1:01.62), the 4x400 relay (4:49), Jada May in the high jump (4-4), Alexia Van Meter in the long jump (13-0) and Paige Frame in the shot (30-8) and discus (97-7 1/2) won events for the Ceramics.

Sheridan sweeps tri-meet: The General boys scored 69 points to top West Muskingum's 67 and New Lex's 32, while the Sheridan girls totaled 94 points to the Tornadoes' 54 and the Panthers' 18.

John Skinner won the 800 (2:09.83), Tate Ruthers claimed the 1,600 (4:55), Jacob Ramey took the 110 hurdles (19.12), the 4x400 relay was first (3:56.61), Michael Tolliver won the pole vault (11-0) and Reed Coconis placed first in the high jump (19-0 1/2) for the Sheridan boys.

Lane Kennedy in the 100 (11.57) and 200 (23.73), Rashid Sesay in the 400 (54.91), Dustin Brown in the 300 hurdles (46.22), the 4x200 (1:35.48), Tavin Bennett in the high jump (5-6) and Ty Shawger in the triple jump (39-2 1/2), shot (41-6) and discus (135-4) were winners for the West M boys.

Beckett Strong came in first in the 100 (13.15) and 800 (2:31.07), Nora Covey claimed the 400 (1:06.76), Jenna Stewart was first in the 1,600 (6:05), Claire Shriner won the 100 hurdles (16.56) and 300 hurdles (49.51), the 4x100 (55.15) and 4x400 (4:42) placed first, Kenzi Perkins captured the high jump (4-8), Ryan Satterfield was first in the pole vault (6-6) and long jump (14-2 1/2) and Rilea Waite claimed the shot (36-0) for the Sheridan girls.

Molly Spiker won the 200 (27.56) and triple jump (35-4), the 4x200 (1:51.91) came in first, Ava Hoops tied for first in the long jump (14-2 1/2) and Mykell Bowen was first in the discus (118-6) for the West M girls.

Zander Miller in the boys 3,200 (11:48) and the boys 4x100 (47.76) won for New Lex.

Boys Tennis

Zanesville 5, Coshocton 0: All five Blue Devil matches were won in straight sets, as they improved to 3-4.

No. 1 singles Tyson Omen won 6-0, 6-1 over Cady Jackson; No. 2 Josh Lightle won 6-0, 6-0 over Syler D' Ostroph; No. 3 Connor Baldwin won 6-1, 6-2 over Ella Baylor; No. 1 doubles of Sky Cooke and Ethan Turner picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win over Hailey Helter and Myrakle Johnson and No. 2 doubles Cash Omen and Carter Parr beat Lucy Baylor and Emme Jackson 6-0, 6-2.

In JV action, Zanesville's No. 1 doubles of Daegan Lusk and Karter Bludnick won 8-3 over Kristina Haines and Jackie Aronhalt and No. 2 doubles of Steven Morrison and Michael Malone defeated Aurora DiNapoli and Casey Jackson 8-5.

Zanesville plays at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Granville.
