HS Roundup: Sheridan, New Lex lean on offense in routs

GROVE CITY — Avery Mueller drilled a home run, a triple and a single and collected seven RBIs to pace visiting Sheridan, which improved to 12-6 with a 13-0 rout of host Grove City in softball action on Tuesday.

Addison Grosse added three hits, Payton Powell had a pair of hits and Montana O'Brien doubled for the winners.

Megan Ranck and Cora Hall combined on the 1-hitter in the circle.

New Lexington 14, Marietta 0 (5 inn.): Abby Wilson hit a pair of homers and knocked in six runs and Caroline Dupler also swatted her first career home run, along with a double, three RBIs and three runs scored in the Panthers' shutout win.

Soraya Taylor tripled, singled and scored three runs, Kim Kellogg hit two singles with a RBI and Jorja Burkhart added a double, two singles and two runs scored to pace the New Lex offense, which used a seven-run second inning to take control.

Wilson also earned the win, allowing one hit with five strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings, while Taylor and Bella Chevalier combined on the final five outs to complete the two-hit shutout.

Tri-Valley 15, Cambridge 3 (5 inn.): The Scotties pounded out 18 hits and scored six times in the first inning to cruise to the win.

Raegan Smith hit a homer, double and single and knocked in six runs, Kylan Brock smashed a homer and a double with three RBIs and two runs scored, Ally Peterson swatted a pair of doubles and a single and scored three runs, Caity Journey added three singles and three runs scored, and Paiton Murphy and Olivia Rapol hit two singles apiece for the winners.

Belle Baughman earned the victory in the circle, giving up three runs on eight hits with two strikeouts in a complete game. She also doubled with a RBI.

West Muskingum 18, Buckeye Trail 1: Kate Foster hit two homers and a double to go with five RBIs and three runs scored, as the Tornadoes improved to 12-4.

Lydiah Huey also homered, doubled and scored three times, Gabby Hammer had a double and three RBIs, Gracie Settles added four hits, three RBIs and three runs scored and Zoie Settles hit a double among her four hits and brought home two runs as the West M offense had 17 total hits.

Kadie Bare was the winning pitcher, allowing two hits and striking out two in four innings.

Athens 13, John Glenn 6: The Muskies suffered a road loss against the unbeaten Bulldogs.

Baseball

Rosecrans 5, Millersport 4: The Bishops used a three-run fifth and added two runs in the seventh to hold off the Lakers in Mid-State League action.

Hayden Perdue went 2-for-4 with a double and five RBIs and Weston Hartman singled twice and scored twice to pace the Rosecrans offense.

Mikey Burkhart earned the win on the mound, allowing four runs, one earned, on seven hits with seven strikeouts and three walks in 6 2/3 innings and Xander Daniels picked up the save by getting the final out.

Licking Valley 9, John Glenn 6: Colt Emerson went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and four RBIs, but the Muskies mustered just seven total hits in the loss.

Gunner Fox added two singles for John Glenn, which trailed 4-1 through five innings before both teams scored five runs each in the sixth.

Zane Townsend took the loss after allowing four runs on six hits in five innings. He also had a single, as did Noah Winland.

Watkins Memorial 15, Zanesville 0 (5 inn.): The Warriors used a 10-run second inning to rout the Blue Devils in LCL play.

Tyson Kimble had two of Zanesville's five hits, Riley Needles, Canon Mercer and Mikey Johnson also singled and Greyson Goines lasted just 1 2/3 innings in taking the loss, giving up 10 runs, seven earned, on four hits and eight walks.

Sheridan sweeps tri-meet: The General girls scored 108 to beat Crooksville (31) and River View (7), while the Sheridan boys had 76 points to Crooksville's 44 and River View's 21.

Winners for the Sheridan girls were the 4x800 (11:14) and 4x400 (4:50) relays, Claire Shriner in the 100 hurdles (17.3) and 300 hurdles (50.3), Beckett Strong in the 100 (13.5), 200 (28.2) and 400 (1:03.7), the 4x200 of Laken Wilson, Kenzi Perkins, Maddie Winders and Ryan Satterfield (2:02.04), Grace Householder in the 1,600 (5:52), the 4x100 of Winders, Perkins, Hallie Layne and Kenna Kellermeyer (55.6), Jenna Stewart in the 800 (2:53), Lily Dennis in the discus (124-0), Rilea Waite in the shot (36-4), Perkins in the high jump (4-6), and Satterfield in the long jump (15-2 1/2) and pole vault (7-6).

The 4x800 (8:46), 4x400 (4:03), 4x200 (1:45.2) and 4x100 (48.9) relays, Jacob Ramey in the 110 hurdles (18.9) and discus (122-7), Drake Owen in the 1,600 (5:39), Simon Conrad in the 400 (56.5), Tate Ruthers in the 800 (2:16.3), Elijah Jones in the 200 (25.0) and Gage Pack in the pole vault (10-6) were first for the Sheridan boys.

Gage Frash came in first in the 100 (11.7), long jump (19-1 1/2), and triple jump (38-3), Landon Addington was first in the high jump (5-6) and Andrew Rollins claimed the shot (42-1 1/2) for the Crooksville boys, while Ava Houk won the girls triple jump (29-9) for the Ceramics.

Reed Minton won the 300 hurdles (1:04.0) for the River View boys.

John Glenn girls cruise to tri-meet win: The Muskie girls scored 118 points to Tri-Valley's 31 and West Muskingum's 22, while the John Glenn and Tri-Valley boys tied with 69 points and West M had 30.

Jessica Church in the 100 (13.28), 200 (28.0) and 400 (1:02.25), Laurie Baughman in the 800 (2:38.62), Waverly Yurco in the 1,600 (6:09) and 3,200 (13:46), Kara Fields in the 100 hurdles (15.99), Courtney Barnhart in the 300 hurdles (55.0), Charlie Ford, Riley Zamensky, Rebecca Spohn and Mya Warner in the 4x200 (1:53.98), Barnhart, Lily Gensor, Alaina Sigman and Kate Wilson in the 4x400 (4:46), Baughman, Breonna Cosgrove, Sigman and Mackenzie Welch in the 4x800 (11:05), Ava Hoffman in the high jump (5-0), Brayden Snider in the pole vault (11-6), Warner in the long jump (15-4 1/2) and Chelsea Sotherden in the shot (35-11 1/2) won for the John Glenn girls.

Kiana Reynolds, Lizzie Mjolhus, Lauren Renaud and Katherine Martin won the 4x100 (53.85) for the Tri-Valley girls, while Mykell Bowen claimed the discus (120-4) for the West M girls.

Cameron House in the 400 (53.36), Isaac Duran in the 800 (2:28.67) and pole vault (9-6), Cash Smith in the 110 hurdles (16.08), Adan Duran in the 300 hurdles (45.6), Nick Biddinger, House, Gavin Tuttle and Will Nicolozakes in the 4x200 (1:36.37), Kody Clendenning, Biddinger, Caiden Lake and Nicolozakes in the 4x400 (3:45.85), and Carson Clouse, Duran, Ethan Zell and Tanner Caudill in the 4x800 (9:26) were first for the Muskie boys.

Winners for the Tri-Valley boys were Dalton Crozier in the 1,600 (4:57) and 3,200 (10:55), Nohah Nichols in the high jump (5-8), Chase Cameron in the long jump (17-10) and Chris Gargasz in the shot (44-9) and discus (147-2), while Rashid Sesay won the 100 (11.66) and 200 (23.35) and Lane Kennedy, Jax Prang, Ty Shawger and Sesay claimed the 4x100 (45.0) to pace the West M boys.

Maysville boys, Philo girls win league meets: The Panther boys scored 64.5 points to edge Philo's 63.5 and Morgan's 47, while the Philo girls finished with 92 points to Morgan's 48 and Maysville's 20.

Anna Stutes in the 100 (13.75), Makenna Staker in the 200 (28.84) and 300 hurdles (50.6), Jenna Lytton in the 800 (2:38.59) and 1,600 (6:00), the 4x100 (56.22), 4x200 (1:54.68), 4x400 (4:41) and 4x800 (11:28) relays, Delylah Boetcher in the pole vault (8-6) and Haylee Stemm in the discus (87-3) won for the Philo girls.

Winners for the Philo boys were Aidan Mahon in the 100 (11.82), 400 (52.64), long jump (20-2 3/4), and high jump (6-0), Ryan Morris in the 800 (2:15.12) and 1,600 (5:03) and Zack Savage in the pole vault (9-0).

Samuel Scott won the 200 (24.29), Greyson Wood was first in the 3,200 (11:55), Vincent Pratt took the 110 hurdles (17.53) and 300 hurdles (42.05) and the 4x100 was first (46.56) for the Maysville boys, while Bella Van Wey won the shot (31-10) for the Maysville girls.

Odessa Smith won the 100 hurdles (16.16), 400 (1:01.27) and long jump (16-7) and Maddi Short was first in the high jump (4-6) for the Morgan girls, while the 4x200 (1:43.34), 4x400 (3:53.91) and 4x800 (10:06) relays, Jaxon Pauley in the shot (39-11) and William Dodd in the discus (107-11) won for the Morgan boys.

Meadowbrook sweeps MVL tri-meets: The Colt boys tallied 80 points to New Lexington's 53 and Coshocton's 36, while the Meadowbrook girls totaled 68.5 to New Lex's 57.5 and Coshocton's 44.

Gabe Barrowman, Ethan Clark, Eli McCord and Zander Miller in the 4x800 (10:27), Carson Kellogg, Lucas Scott, Mason Klingler and Chase Dumolt in the 4x200 (1:35.3), Miller in the 1,600 (5:29), Klingler in the 400 (53.8), Kellogg in the 200 (24.1), and Kenneth Waggoner in the pole vault (10-6) won for the New Lex boys.

Jocelynn Bowen placed first in the 100 hurdles (17.3) and 300 hurdles (52.5), Nora Duperow was first in the 100 (13.1) and 200 (27.6), Duperow, Bowen, Emma Rose and Isabella Starlin were first in the 4x100 (53.7), Cambrian Pletcher won the discus (80-3) and Mackenzie Carroll placed first in the pole vault (7-0) for the New Lex girls.

Zaelyn Connell, Mia Lauvray, Lilly Braxton and Sophia Skelton won the 4x800 (11:38), Lindsay Bryant, Leah Mathias, Addison Gordon and Maria Ramon were first in the 4x200 (2:03.4), Maggie Laaper took the 400 (1:10.8), Skelton claimed the 800 (2:45), and Laaper, Lauvray, Anna Jansen and Skelton were first in the 4x400 (4:40) to lead the Coshocton girls.

Antwone Johns, Harper Jay, Cadin Whiteus and Israel Rice were first in the 4x100 (46.1) and Aiden Braxton claimed the long jump (17-9) for the Coshocton boys.
