HS Roundup: Sheridan's Stinson sets mark in Generals' rout

DUNCAN FALLS — Jamisyn Stinson set another record for Sheridan on Wednesday.

The junior guard drilled three 3s to set a new career program record in a 21-point effort, leading the Generals past host Philo 64-23 in a Muskingum Valley League Big School contest at The Power Plant.

Stinson surpassed Rachel Cooke's career total of 217 treys, while Halle Warner chipped in 14 for Sheridan (13-1, 9-1).

Warner tallied six points in a 16-4 first quarter, and Stinson and Warner combined for nine points in the second, as the lead grew to 33-11 at the half.

Payton Powell also had nine points and 11 rebounds, Ava Heller chipped in eight counters and Warner grabbed six boards, three assists and three steals for Sheridan, which was up 51-21 through three.

Aleigha Busse collected eight points and Caitlin Rose added six points and seven rebounds for Philo (6-8, 4-6).

Zanesville 46, Licking Valley 35: Kandrea Sowers poured in 14 points, as the Lady Devils (6-7) overcame a slow start to down the Panthers in Licking County League action.

Zanesville led 5-4 after one quarter before Kamy Morgan scored all five of her points and Sowers added four in the second to build a 21-10 halftime lead.

Jada Seyfried collected five of her nine points, Rylee McCuen had five of her seven points and Sowers added four in the third to make it a 35-23 advantage headed to the fourth.

Jersey Draughn also added seven points for the Lady Devils, while Rylee Hillis led the Panthers with 18 points.

West Muskingum 37, River View 18: Caitlyn Drake tallied 10 points, as eight Tornadoes (10-4, 7-3) scored in a MVL crossover win.

Laney Johnson added seven points and Zoie Settles chipped in six points for West M, which led 14-2 after one quarter, 22-5 at the half and 34-14 through three.

Lily Yoder paced the Lady Bears (4-10, 2-8) with 10 points.

New Lexington 64, Crooksville 10: The Small School Division leading Panthers (11-4, 9-1) led 40-6 at the half and cruised past the Ceramics.

Meadowbrook 59, Coshocton 50: The host Colts (7-3 MVL) led 50-33 entering the fourth and held off a late Redskins' charge in a MVL Small School battle.

Kenli Norman poured in 25 points and Maddie May added 13 for Meadowbrook, which trailed 12-10 after one quarter before taking a 31-25 halftime lead. Norman and May combined for 13 points in the third to push the advantage to 17.

Savannah Bartlett collected 15 of her game-high 27 points in the fourth quarter to help Coshocton get as close as four in the final stanza. Julia Cutrina added 12 points, Isabelle Lauvray scored six and Hailey Helter added five for the Lady 'Skins (1-12, 1-9).

Boys Basketball

New Lexington 47, Nelsonville 30: Isaiah Stephens and Lukas Ratliff combined for 34 points, as the visiting Panthers went on the road and improved to 11-3 with a win over the Buckeyes.

New Lex led 6-4 through one quarter before Stephens collected seven of his team-high 18 points in the second quarter to help extend the lead to 17-8 at the half.

Ratliff scored 11 of his 16 in the third, as the Panthers used a 20-point third quarter to build a 37-19 advantage entering the fourth.

Stephens also had six rebounds and three steals, Ratliff grabbed nine rebounds, four offensive ones, Ryan Hobbs contributed seven boards and three assists, and Bentley Hanson dished out four assists for New Lex, which made 19 of 45 field goals and 6 of 7 free throws.

The Panthers also had a 29-16 edge on the glass and held Nelsonville to 13-of-43 shooting, including 1-of-11 on 3s.

Tillman Hawk won the boys 500 free (6:05) and took third in the 200 free (2:19), Owen Rusnak placed second (2:08) in the boys 200 free (2:08) and 100 back (1:15.56), Elijah Mayle took fourth in the boys 100 free (1:06.44) and Alissa Jinkens placed second in the girls 100 back (1:21.66) for Maysville; Brennan Jones placed second in the boys 500 free (7:28), Emily Ward placed fourth in the girls 200 free (2:46) and Chris Wilson took fourth in the boys 200 free (2:41); and Philo's Reese Lambert was second in the girls 500 free (7:56).
