HS Roundup: Strong net play sparks River View past Maysville

WARSAW — Strong net play allowed host River View to dominate Maysville 25-10, 25-8, 25-6 in a Muskingum Valley League Big School Division match on Thursday.

Alivia Spaulding led the Lady Bears' effort at the net with eight kills and two blocks, Haley Balo added seven kills and three blocks and Kayla Dulgar chipped in six kills and two blocks. Dulgar also had 17 assists and Brittany Henderson added six assists.

Dulgar also served seven aces and made eight digs; Cayla Shrimplin had seven digs; Balo served four aces; and Bailey Laudick and Shaelyn Yoder were 100% serving in the victory.

River View reserves lost 25-19, 25-23, as Shaelyn Yoder scored seven points and Shieann Waldren and Atyana Milici had four points apiece for the Lady Bears.

Hiland 25, 25, 25, Ridgewood 10, 11, 16: Kaelynn Robinson had 18 digs and eight kills, as the Generals fell on the road to the Hawks in Inter-Valley Conference action.

Kelly Masloski passed out 13 assists, Megan Mainwaring added six kills and two blocks and Kya Masloski tallied three kills, two aces, and four points for Ridgewood.

Coshocton 25, 25, 25, West Muskingum 13, 14, 14: Lindsey Bryant's all-around effort of six kills, four aces, three blocks and 10 digs led the visiting Redskins in an MVL-Small School match in Falls Township.

Jalynn West added 18 assists, Kenidi Jackson five kills and two aces and Miyah Davis six digs for Coshocton (3-2, 3-1 MVL).

Leaders were not reported for West.

Maggie Laaper recorded nine kills and three aces and Jaeli Tiedt eight aces in Coshocton's 26-24, 19-25, 25-17 reserve win.

Girls Soccer

River View 12, New Lexington 0: Kam McGinnis and Regan Foster each scored twice as the Lady Bears (4-1) led 10-0 at the half of the MVL contest and claimed their fourth straight win.

Emma Sampsel, Paige Stone, Cindy Keneda, Kylie Miller and Elaina Brenly also added scores for the winners.

Coshocton 5, Maysville 3: Isabelle Lauvray knocked in four goals and her sister, Mia, added the other goal, as the Lady Skins (1-2-1, 1-2) picked up a league victory.

Myrakle Johnson had two assists, Courtney Snyder and Anna Braxton added an assists apiece, and Destiny Frye had five saves for Coshocton, which led 3-0 before Maysville scored three unanswered to tie it at 3.

Boys Golf

Crooksville 163, Sheridan 164, River View (NS): The Ceramics' Cooper Watts and the Generals' Cael Dowell shared medalist honors with 38s in a MVL tri-match at Hickory Flats.

Bo White and Vaughn Childress each shot 40 and Riley McKenzie had a 45 to lead Crooksville to the win.

Blake Turnes added a 40, Cooper Winders shot 42 and Reed Coconis had 44 to round out the Generals' scoring.

Thad Cox had 44 and Caleb Kline carded a 45 for the Black Bears.

Meadowbrook 181, New Lexington 193, Coshocton 214: The Colts' Ben Coss and the Panthers' Brody Agriesti shared medalist honors with 44s at Cambridge Country Club.

Steven Grafton carded a 45 and Damon Baier and Alyx Leach added 46s for Meadowbrook and Caden Gibson shot 48, Brandon Stevenson chipped in a 50 and Drew Barnette had 51 for New Lex.

Coby Moore led the Redskins with 44, while Gavin Mathias had 48, Carter Summers shot 55 and Chris Mobley totaled 70.

River View Junior High 148, Meadowbrook 268: Gavin Gress took medalist honors with 35, while Colton Gress and Brynn Harstine added 37s and Clark Frischen shot 39 for the Black Bears.
