HS SWIMMING: Spartans girls down Crimson Tide

Jan. 24—POTTSVILLE — Freshman Kamryn Wolfe won a pair of events and Joyce Burian paced a sweep of diving as North Schuylkill downed Pottsville 99-83 in a Schuylkill League girls' swim meet Tuesday at the Ned Hampford Natatorium.

Wolfe placed first in the 200-yard freestyle and 100 freestyle, while Emily Welna (200 IM) and Tia Malafarina (500 free) added victories for North Schuylkill (5-2, 5-2 SL). The Spartans benefited from a 13-0 swing in diving, where Burian, Jamie Love and Vivian Swartz placed 1-2-3.

Adalia LaSelva (100 fly, 100 back) won two events and Carly Mohl (50 free) and Elizabeth Martinko (100 breast) notched victories for Pottsville (6-4, 4-3), which won the final four events.

Blue Mountain 103, Mahanoy Area 60

MAHANOY CITY — Victoria Ellex set a season's best time of 5:30.04 in the 500 freestyle as part of her four victories as the Eagles downed the Golden Bears.

Hannah Magdeburg (100 fly, 100 free) also won two individual events and swam on two winning relays for Blue Mountain (10-1, 7-0). Julia Crossen (200 free) and Mollie Sarnes (200 IM) added wins as the Eagles swept the relays.

Abby Dudash (100 back) and Tabbatha Ward (100 breast) notched victories for Mahanoy Area (3-4, 3-4).

Lexi Buchala (200 free), Mia Jones (diving), Isabella Jones (500 free) and Gabby Blasko (100 back) added wins for Tamaqua (6-5, 2-5).

Cali Stauffer (50 free, 100 free) won two individual events and swam on two winning relays for Schuylkill Haven (2-8, 0-7), while Nicole Domermuth won the 100 butterfly.

MAHANOY CITY — Matheson Bair (200 free, 100 fly) and Noah Powers (50 free, 100 free) each won two individual events as the Eagles remained unbeaten with a win over the Golden Bears.

Christian Fisher (200 IM), Francesco Carr (500 free) and Van Caliendo (100 back) added wins for Blue Mountain (11-0, 7-0). Jake Hillibush prevented the sweep with a victory in the 100 breaststroke for Mahanoy Area (0-7, 0-7).

Stephen Behun (100 free), Brandon Long (100 back) and Ethan DiBonafazio (100 breast) added victories for the Blue Raiders (6-5, 4-3), which swept the relays.

Reese Felty took the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly for Schuylkill Haven (3-7, 3-4).

Hunter Chescavage (100 fly, 100 back) also won two events for Pottsville (8-2, 6-1), while Xander Hirsch (200 free), Vincent Prestileo (50 free) and Adam Klinger (diving).

Gavin Mentzer (100 free) and Chase Meyers (500 free) scored wins for North Schuylkill (1-6, 1-6).
