HS TRACK AND FIELD: Pacyna, Popko lead Mid Valley past Riverside; Danilovitz, Michalczyk, Von Ahnen set records

Apr. 6—Gabe Pacyna had wins in the 800-meter run and the 1,600 to lead Mid Valley to a 90-51 win over Riverside in a Lackawanna Track Conference Division III boys track and field meet.

Pacyna had times of 2 minutes, 0.3 seconds to win the 800 and posted a time of 4:42.6 to claim the 1,600 for the undefeated Spartans.

Zach Popko added wins in the 400 and 200 for Mid Valley, which has not lost to a Division III opponent since April 24, 2019.

Daniel Danilovitz set the school record in the 3,200 for the second time this season. He ran a time of 9:49.74 (converted), which beat his mark of 9:57.24 from the opening meet.

Jack Munley added wins in the shot and discus for Riverside.

At Dunmore, Josh Malone won the 110 hurdles and javelin; Tommy Clark won the 1,600 and the 800; and Cory Domiano won the 100 and 400 as the Bucks opened the season with a 118-24 win over Carbondale Area.

At Lakeland, Jon Seamans won the 100 and 200 and came from behind for a win in the 400 relay that helped the Chiefs edge Holy Cross, 76-70.

Lyndon Bello added wins in the shot put and discus, and Pietro Coquio won the long and triple jumps for Lakeland.

Ronnie Prislupski won the 800 and Jamie Prislupski won the 400, and both were members of the winning 3,200 relay team and the winning 1,600 relay team for Holy Cross.

At Blue Ridge, freshman Kendel Jones won the 1,600 and the 3,200 and helped lead a pair of relay teams to wins as Elk Lake posted a 96-33 win over the Raiders in Division IV.

Dylan Way won the 400 and 800 and also ran on the two winning relays, and Wyatt Johnson won the long and triple jumps for the Warriors.

At Lackawanna Trail, Max Kelly won the 3,200 and ran on the winning 3,200 relay team to lead Susquehanna past the Lions, 69-67.

JT Burke won the 800 and was also a member of the winning relay team for the Sabers.

Demetrius Douglas won the 100, 200, and long jump and was a member of the winning 400 relay team for Lackawanna Trail.

Girls

Maura Michalczyk broke her own school record with a jump of 10 feet, 6 inches in the pole vault to highlight the Lady Bucks' 79-66 win over Carbondale Area in a Division III meet.

Michalczyk beat the mark of 9-6 she established last season.

In addition, Michalczyk also won the 100 hurdles, the long jump, and the triple jump, while Serenity Fox won the 100 and 200 for Dunmore.

Kate Korty won the 1,600 and 3,200, and Megan Cosklo won the discus and javelin for Carbondale Area.

At Lakeland, Gabby Martini took first in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles; Kirsten Navich won the 400 and triple jump; and Emily Black won the 1,600 and 3,200 as Lakeland defeated Holy Cross, 127-23, in a Lackawanna Track Conference Division III meet.

At Riverside, Mid Valley won its division opener, beating Riverside 77 — 55.

Annika Von Ahnen set a school record in the 3,200 and placed second with a time of 12:27.04 (converted). She also ran on the winning 3,200 relay for the Spartanettes.

Last week, Von Ahnen also set the school record in the 1,600 with a time of 5:43.24. That beat the mark of 5:46.24 set in 2013 by Nicole Kobylanski.

Mae Kaufman won the 400 and contributed to a win in the 1,600 for Mid Valley.

Lacey Danilovitz swept the 1,600, 800, and 3,200, and Braelyn Reed won the 100, 200, and long jump for Riverside.

At Lackawanna Trail, Sophia Kazmierczak won the 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles, triple jump and ran on the winning 1,600 relay to lead the Lady Lions to a 77-38 win over Susquehanna in Division IV.

Megan Fahey added wins in the 1,600 and 800 and was on two winning relays for the Lady Lions.

Tatum Norris won the 100, 200, 400, and long jump for Susquehanna.

At Blue Ridge, Emma Button won the 100, 200, long jump, and triple jump for the Lady Raiders, who beat Elk Lake, 89-56.

Madelyn Naylor added wins in the 1,600 and 3,200 for Blue Ridge.

Sydney Upright had wins in the 400 and as a member of the 400 relay and 1,600 relay teams to lead Elk Lake.
