HS TRACK AND FIELD: Rescheduled LTFCA Senior All-Star meet set for Monday

Jun. 13—The threat of inclement weather forced the Lackawanna Track and Field Coaches Association to postpone the inaugural Senior All-Star meet scheduled for Sunday afternoon.

Athletes will now compete Monday at 5 p.m. at Abington Heights High School.

Abington Heights coach Frank Passetti announced Sunday that the event, which will have teams from the City and County competing in an 18-event dual meet, will also be live streamed. The Abington Heights High School Media team will broadcast on its YouTube channel at youtube.com/c/AHHSMedia.

Fans can also access live results via Wil-Time Event Management at wil-time.com.

Former Lakeland coach Phil Tochelli will coach the County team, with Mid Valley coach Nick Kazinetz as his assistant. Tochelli coached the boys program at Lakeland for 26 years and had a career record of 213-20 with 15 undefeated seasons, 21 division titles and 11 District 2 Class 2A titles. Overall, which included a stint as the girls coach, he had a record of 237-25.

Former Wallenpaupack coach John Tintle will coach the City team, with Wallenpaupack coach Mark McHugh assisting. Tintle had eight undefeated seasons as coach of the boys and girls teams. His boys teams won nine district championships, with five coming for the boys team in District 2 and four in District 12.

Wallenpaupack's Anastasia Ioppolo, who had a remarkable career that included winning nine District 2 Class 3A gold medals, leads the City girls team.

Abington Heights All-Region athletes Gigi Sabatini and Anna Scoblick will run their final meet at their home track as part of the County girls team.

PIAA Class 2A pole vault champion Ella Dougher, from Western Wayne, is also a part of the County girls roster.

Mid Valley senior thrower Josh Angelo and hurdler Nathan Zarnowski, a pair of All-Region selections, headline the County boys team. Scranton's Antonio Hairston, a District 2 Class 3A champion in the 300-meter hurdles and long jump, leads the City boys team.

Teams were selected by the LTFCA. President Justin Collins of Western Wayne; Vice President Nick Kazinetz of Mid Valley; Secretary Art Davis of Lakeland; and Treasurer Jason Sepkowski of North Pocono are the officers.
