HUDSON — If you've always thought your holiday decorations should win awards, now they can.
The Hudson Downtown Business Improvement District will hand out three $200 cash prizes to homeowners with the best holiday decorations as part of the organization's Second annual Holiday Decoration and Lighting Contest.
Homeowners can enter the contest until 4 p.m. on Dec. 16 by sending an email with their name, address, email address and telephone number to the BID.
Any business in the Business Improvement District that lights up its storefront or window with holiday decorations will be considered for the contest without needing to register. In that category, two $200 prizes will be given out.
BID officials say design, creativity and capturing the spirit of the holidays will all be taken into consideration by a panel of volunteer judges. Winners will be announced on Dec. 24.
Holiday lights in MetroWest and beyond
Community Kangaroo, a website run by local parents who find family-friendly activities, is soliciting submissions for Christmas lights in MetroWest. Submissions will be compiled into a map for those that would like to visit the holiday decorations. The map includes descriptions of the displays, so those looking for a decoration-filled stroll can find the most densely decorated neighborhoods to enjoy.
If residents think their holiday decorations are worth wider recognition, Patch.com is currently taking submissions for the "Best Holiday lights in America," according to its website.
