Hudson faith communities will host dialogue

Faith communities in Hudson will come together for a dialogue to explore common challenges to staying relevant and vibrant as they serve the community on April 23 from 3 to 5 p.m. Lead partners include St. Mary Church, Temple Beth Shalom, Hudson United Methodist Church and the Hudson DEI Alliance.

During the dialogue, participants will explore the topic in small groups of mixed denominations, followed by an opportunity to consider what they might apply within their own congregation. Additionally, options for joint collaboration to support community needs will be considered.

The dialogue will include current and past congregants, as well as those not yet affiliated, age range from teenage to seniors.

Facilitators include the Hudson Civic Engagement Facilitator Team, with support from the Dialogue Co. Funding for the event is provided by The Hudson DEI Alliance, with special thanks to Diebold Nixdorf Co., The Krapf Family and the Burton D. Morgan Foundation for funding the Civic Engagement Dialogue Training for community leaders.

Sponsored by the Hudson DEI Alliance, the city-wide Civic Engagement Dialogue Initiative’s mission is to foster collaborative action by providing facilitators for small- and large-scale dialogues on issues of importance to the community. A group of 24 community leaders in the city received training in the dialogue process by internationally recognized experts Dr. David Campt, of the Dialogue Company, and Matthew Freeman, founder of Dialectix Consulting. To date, the facilitators supported a city-wide environmental dialogue (led by the League of Women Voters Hudson and the city of Hudson), Hudson City School’s Cultural Proficiency Committee Community Engagement Night, and a regional dialogue on how businesses and community organizations are supporting diversity and inclusion efforts. The Hudson Faith Communities Dialogue represents a capstone event for the training with the purpose of not only addressing faith community's connections, but also demonstrating the ability of the Initiative to further collaboration.

Those wishing to participate should RSVP by April 10 to Jen Batton at HudsonDEIAlliance@gmail.com or to James Field at jdfield23@aol.com
