Hudson has a new superintendent of schools. Residents may recognize him

HUDSON The School Commitee has decided on its next superintendent, and it's a familiar face.

Former Hudson High School Principal and current Waltham Superintendent of Schools Brian Reagan will be Hudson's next superintendent, pending successful contract negotiations.

"We are excited to welcome Dr. Reagan to the Hudson Public Schools," the School Committee said in a statement after its vote on Tuesday. "His vision for the district and his emphasis on creating an inclusive, effective, equitable and positive learning environment for all members of our community make this an exciting choice for our District."

Brian Reagan has been selected to become superintendent of schools in Hudson.

Reagan will replace Marco Rodrigues, who announced last September that he intended to retire at the end of the school year in June. He has led Hudson Public Schools for five years.

Reagan, who is expected to start his new job on July 1, was principal at Hudson High School for seven years (2011-18). He left to become assistant superintendent of schools in Wilmington; two years later, he became superintendent in Waltham.

Before becoming Hudson High School principal, he served as an assistant principal at Bedford High School and principal at Shrewsbury High School.

Besides Reagan, other finalists for the Hudson superintendent job who were interviewed by the School Committee include Alexandra McNeil, assistant superintendent in Needham; Jannell Pearson-Campbell, interim superintendent for Northampton; Daniel Riley, Marlborough High School principal; and June Saba-Maguire, assistant superintendent in Brockton.

In its statement, the School Committee cited Reagan's background in education, his administrative skills and his knowledge as being key components of why they offered him the job.
