Ah, summertime. Though fondly known for hazy days spent by the pool and evening barbecues, the season is also responsible for some uncomfortably sticky, humid days, sweaty nights spent tossing and turning, and, my personal favorite, thighs that practically get glued to plastic porch chairs. The online appliance retailer is currently extending its Memorial Day sale pricing on top-notch window, portable and mini ACs through June 11, so you'll be able to snag these machines at impressive lows. With summer coming in hot, you’ll want to move quickly, however, before they all sell out.
While none of the best units we've tested were part of this sale, we still found a few great options that will keep you cool for less. One to check out in particular is this 4.7-star Frigidaire FFRE123ZA1, which will lower your home's temp without breaking the bank. Typically going for $420, it's currently priced at $409. This AC has fans in more than 270 shoppers for its multi-speed fan, sleep mode and Energy Star approval. It contains a clean filter to reduce bacteria, room odors and other airborne particles to create a healthier air quality and has a programmable 24-hour on/off timer that you can customize to suit your schedule. Plus, it notifies you when the filter needs to be cleaned. There's even a remote control for quick and easy temperature modification. Also included in the sale is the Friedrich ZoneAire Series ZCP12DA portable air conditioner, currently on sale for $699. Once $779, this three-in-one system contains an AC, dehumidifier and a fan, all of which work to keep your air quality and room temperature as comfortable as possible. Jon says that this tool is especially useful, since you can save time and energy by running the dehumidifier when you're not around, and the AC when need to cool off. It includes a remote control, a 24-hour timer, a three-speed fan and even has a self-evaporating condensation system, which means you won’t have to worry about the excess liquid that most ACs typically release. 4.4-star reviewers on P.C. Richard & Son's site claim it’s a high-quality machine that gets the job done, plus, it’s only 29 inches tall, so you can store it in a closet during cooler seasons.
