Hugh Grant admits 'terrible' on-set tantrum on Dungeons and Dragons movie

The 62-year-old actor confessed he had to do a lot of grovelling after losing his temper with a child's chaperone.

Hugh Grant has confessed he had a "terrible" tantrum on the set of his latest film Dungeons And Dragons: Honour Among Thieves.

The 62-year-old star of Notting Hill and Love Actually confessed he had to do a lot of grovelling after losing his temper with a child's chaperone.

Grant told Total Film magazine: "I lost my temper with a woman in my eyeline on day one. I assumed she was some executive from the studio who should have known better.

"Then it turns out that she’s an extremely nice local woman who was the chaperone of the young girl. Terrible. A lot of grovelling... "

The Paddington 2 star added: "I did a 'Christian Bale'."

Grant was referring to The Dark Knight star who famously apologised in 2009 after a tape was leaked of him launching a foul-mouthed rant at a member of the film crew on set of Terminator: Salvation.

Bridget Jones Diary star Grant has a reputation for losing his temper.

In 2012 The Daily Show host Jon Stewart called Grant "the worst guest" he had ever had on the chat show and said he had banned him from ever coming back.

Stewart said: "He’s giving everyone s**t the whole time, and he’s a big pain in the a*s."

Grant later told Vanity Fair: "I did have a tantrum backstage. About once a year, I have a really mega-tantrum, and sadly he witnessed one."

Grant stars in the new live action film of hit role-play game Dungeons and Dragons with Chris Pine and Michelle Rodriguez.

The Four Weddings And A Funeral star plays Forge Fitzwilliam the Rogue.

Grant rose to fame as a charming rom com hero after being cast in Richard Curtis' films Four Weddings And A Funeral and Notting Hill.

But in recent years he has broken the type cast with villainous roles including in Paddington 2 and A Very English Scandal.

The British actor became a father for the first time after the age of 50 and now has five children.

He married Swedish television producer Anna Eberstein, mother of three of his children, in 2018.
