Hundreds Evacuated Amid Storm Eta Flooding in Panama

Hundreds of people were evacuated from Chiriqui, Panama, on November 5, following heavy rainfall and flooding caused by Tropical Depression Eta, officials said.

Local officials issued a yellow alert for the province on Thursday.

Citing officials, local media reported that at least five people had died in floods and landslides.

This footage was shared via the Twitter account of the Presidency of Panama. It shows a rescue worker carrying an infant. The infant was one of 13 children rescued and transferred to a temporary shelter, they said.

Eta, though it had weakened to a tropical depression, was still bringing heavy rain to parts of Central America, on Friday, the National Hurricane Center said. Credit: @presidenciapma via Storyful
