Hundreds line the streets for first-ever Athens Pride parade
Hundreds of people gathered along the streets of Athens on Sunday afternoon for the first-ever Pride parade in the city.
A Channel 2 Action News crew was there as floats rolled by and participants marched down the streets of downtown Athens to cheering crowds all celebrating the LGBTQ+ community.

A group of research students visiting the city told Channel 2 that the parade made them feel welcome.
“It’s kind of scary visiting a new place for the first time and to find that it’s so accepting is really exciting,” Annie Cramer said.

“[It’s] like maybe this could be something, somewhere where I can moved to and feel like I have a community here,” Annie Blankenspoor said.
After the parade ended, everyone stuck around for a cookout and festival with lots more activities.
