At least 400 workers from one of Michigan's most extensive healthcare systems resigned from their jobs rather than getting the COVID-19 vaccine, according to a report.
That represents roughly 1% of the Henry Ford Health System workforce, the health care system confirmed on Tuesday. Henry Ford was the first hospital system in Michigan to mandate the shots, the report said.
Approximately 1,900 system employees received medical or religious exemptions from the mandate, according to the system.
President Joe Biden's administration implemented vaccine mandates for most hospitals in the nation or weekly tests for employees who decide not to receive the jab.
Still, not all hospitals have imposed a mandate, the report said. Employers across the country fear that implementing vaccine mandates could worsen conditions in the already stressful work settings of pandemic hospitals.
