Hundreds of people attend Mid-Michigan Women’s Expo

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Hundreds of people made their way to downtown Lansing on the second day of the Mid-Michigan Women’s Expo in Lansing. The line was around the corner Saturday at the Lansing Center as people waited for the doors to open.

“There is lots to do,” said Karen Rodriguez. “There’s a lot of people, good energy out here, snacks if you get hungry. There’s so much to look at, and it’ll take you a few hours. So come out, and learn, and buy.”

A lot of women there told 6 News that this event is a yearly staple for them. Jacqueies Thomas was busy shopping with her friends, and she said they’ve been coming together every year for around eight years.

“We’ve been purchasing–oh, we purchased. We have purchased many things,” they said.

With hundreds of vendors, there was a booth for anything–style, travel, self-defense…you name it.

Shari Montgomery said she can feel the happiness from everyone who comes to her booth. “It’s amazing, because it is, it’s bringing women from all over to come here,” Montgomery said. “And people support us, because women want to support women.”

This is the 24th year for the event, and organizers say that with such great turnouts every year, they can’t wait to keep bringing the Expo to Lansing. “This brings kind of a fun, spring-break vibe,” said Kaylee Jones, Show Manager of the Women’s Expo. “Something to get out of the house and just enjoy a fun day out.”

As for what’s drawing these hundreds of people out, attendee Deborah Kshiminskiy said: “It has such great energy, such great energy.”
