Crystals Lake holds watch party for hometown 'American Idol' finalist Grace Kinstler

Fans in Crystal Lake will be glued to the TV screen Sunday night, cheering on their hometown sweetheart, Grace Kinstler.

GRACE KINSTLER: It's absolutely crazy. I can't believe this. Many people are here.

CATE CAUGUIRAN: A humbling homecoming for an American Idol hopeful.

GRACE KINSTLER: I'm just so excited to be here right now.

CATE CAUGUIRAN: 20-year-old Grace Kinstler was welcomed back with a parade overflowing with fans lined up for blocks followed by a special award from both Crystal Lake and her hometown of Lakewood.

GRACE KINSTLER: That's everything I've ever wanted. Everything my dad ever wanted for me and my family ever wanted for me, so I'm just-- I'm so grateful. And I'm so honored to be here.

CATE CAUGUIRAN: The American Idol finalist slayed the stage Sunday night once again bringing some of the music industry's greatest to their feet in awe and admiration.

GRACE KINSTLER: I remember my first audition I was so, so, so nervous just to like be in the same room with them.

CATE CAUGUIRAN: Days from now, the show will crown a new winner. But for Grace, simply making it this far has already been a dream come true.

GRACE KINSTLER: Idol has made me realize that I'm able to change people's lives. Just the amount of people that have reached out to me and said inspire my daughter, you inspire me, and I'm 60 years old like to have more confidence in my body and myself. And that's everything that's all I could ever ask for.

CATE CAUGUIRAN: Tonight, Grace took the stage one more time before the show's finale for a special hometown performance. Grace told me this was a moment her late father an inspiration for many of her performances would be proud of.

GRACE KINSTLER: He would say, I told you. I told you. Because that was just him. I miss him but I keep him with me and he would be just so, so happy. He'd be crying.

CATE CAUGUIRAN: And to the 100 that stood out in the rain, just for her, as well as the countless other Chicago area fans.

GRACE KINSTLER: Thank you, so, so very much. I appreciate you more than you'll ever know. And this is so cool. And I'm just so grateful.
