When you can hunt deer, other game in Michigan this fall

The new autumn colors will make this a pretty season for hunting in Michigan. Here’s a look at Michigan’s fall hunting seasons for 2022-23, especially at the southern end of the state.

Michigan's seasons run year-round for opossum, porcupine, weasel, red squirrel, skunk, ground squirrel, woodchuck, Russian boar, feral pigeons, starling and house sparrows.

All of these and the following game require a valid Michigan hunting license, according to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

For bag limits and a lot more details, including the ins and outs of hunting licenses, visit the state’s “Michigan Hunting Digest.”
