Hunter Biden has agreed to appear before the House Oversight Committee, led by MAGA Rep. James Comer, R-Kentucky, on the condition that the hearing be aired publicly. Comer has stated continually that he has mountains of evidence that Biden the younger leveraged his father's position in government for personal gain. Now, Comer and his fellow Republicans are in a panic, demanding a closed door hearing. Why?

It is obvious that such information can be manipulated and distorted to appease their low information base, creating another fraud, not dissimilar from their admitted Benghazi hoax. They know that if such a hearing were to see the light of day, the majority of Americans would laugh them out of the room. The nonsensical Republican response has been that Biden's demands are an obstruction of justice and a cover-up. Normally, I would state that no one in his right mind would swallow that but then again there is the MAGA base's need for red meat.

Netanyahu no Churchill

Tom Hagen of “The Godfather” was not hard-nosed enough to be an effective wartime consigliere, and Benjamin Netanyahu similarly falls short as a wartime prime minister. As a leader, it was his responsibility and duty to set a course uniting and preparing his nation for the dreadful decisions that would be forthcoming to achieve this objective, and to do so with or without the support of any other country or international body.  Instead, he succumbed to prioritizing the lives of the hostages for the sole purpose of forever holding his country and the entire civilized world hostage to the despicable demands of the scourge he vowed to destroy.

I have been a long-time admirer of Mr. Netanyahu, and am not qualified to second-guess how the wars against Israel’s enemies are prosecuted.  But in my opinion, a Winston Churchill he is not, and I expect his legacy to be condemned to the ash heap of all the posturing ersatz leaders who deservedly are remembered for no more than their failures to provide the direction, resolve and courage needed in confronting their nation’s enemies.

What's the point of recycling?

Like millions of other civic-minded citizens ever since recycling became available, I have been avid about it. Sadly, I have recently been made aware that the recycling of plastic is a myth. Only 5% of plastic that we put in our bins is used by American companies. The rest is being shipped to Third world countries in southeast Asia and almost all of it ends up in the ocean. We need to do all we can to avoid disposable plastics. When we cannot, put them in the trash. It is better to see them put in a landfill than polluting our oceans.
