Kansas senior center Hunter Dickinson said he hasn’t made up his mind yet about possibly playing a second season of basketball at Kansas.

The 7-foot-2 native of Alexandria, Virginia, who played three seasons at Michigan before transferring to KU, gave a Senior Night speech after the Jayhawks’ 90-68 victory over Kansas State on Tuesday, just in case he’s in the pros and not at Kansas in 2024-25.

“I already have a decision to make, no I’m just playing with y’all,” Dickinson said, smiling, after scoring 15 points and grabbing 20 rebounds against K-State.

“Obviously it’s there, the Covid year. I honestly haven’t made a decision yet. I’m more kind of letting the season play out,” Dickinson continued. “I’m fortunate to have gone through this process where I don’t know what I’m going to do for four years now. I’m kind of used to it. I know I definitely won’t have a decision before the end of the year because a lot can change from now until the end.

“Hopefully If we run the table, win six in a row, (I’ll) kind of figure it out after something great like that. That’s the plan — waiting, hopefully win a natty, then have a hard decision after that.”

Coach Bill Self said he hadn’t spoken to Dickinson about his future. The fans chanted “One More Year,” during Dickinson’s short Senior Night speech.

KU seniors who are out of eligibility include super-senior guards Nick Timberlake and Kevin McCullar. Those with eligibility remaining include Dajuan Harris and Dickinson.

“I think all players should focus on the season, get through the season because the best way for him to have a decision is for him to play well and not worry about all this other stuff,” Self said. “When the guys have decisions to make you need to play the best when it counts the most. I haven’t talked to Hunter about it but it is an option (to come back).”
