Hunter Greene pitches 10 1/3 innings between two starts without allowing a hit for Reds
Cincinnati Reds rookie pitcher Hunter Greene didn't allow a hit Saturday against the Toronto Blue Jays until the first batter he faced in the bottom of the 4th inning, adding to the 7 1/3 no-hit innings he threw in a loss to the Pirates in Pittsburgh on Sunday for a total of 10 1/3 consecutive innings between the two starts without giving up a hit.
Before Bo Bichette's solo home run in the 4th, the last hit Greene had allowed was to the Brewers' Tyrone Taylor - the last batter he faced in a start against Milwaukee at Great American Ball Park on May 10.
Greene bounced back from the Bichette homer to tie the game at 1 by retiring the next three batters, including two by strikeouts.
Greene's day was over after six innings and 84 pitches, 52 for strikes. He allowed four hits and just the one run, with two walks and six strikeouts.
"This is as good as I've seen him look," Bally Sports Ohio's Sam LeCure said during the broadcast of the Reds' 3-1 loss.
