Anne Hathaway’s seemingly gay pop star movie just added its latest cast member — Hunter Schafer.

Deadline dropped the news on Thursday, with a source claiming Schafer will be playing a fashion designer’s assistant named Hilda in the upcoming film Mother Mary.

Though details on the film have remained scant, queer pop fans’ ears have been perking up every time it’s mentioned, as the description of it being an “epic pop melodrama” that follows the relationship between a musician (Hathaway) and a fashion designer (Michaela Coel) suggests – but doesn’t promise – that we’re going to get some gay going on up in here.

“Hunter Schafer joins the cast of A24’s ‘MOTHER MARY’ starring Michaela Coel and Anne Hathaway. It is an epic pop melodrama following a fictional musician and her relationship with an iconic fashion designer.”

The addition of Schafer, best known for her role as trans teen Jules Vaughn in Euphoria, only adds to the queer vibes—as does the fact that the film’s music is to be penned by Charli XCX and Jack Antonoff, who has produced albums for Taylor Swift, St. Vincent, Troye Sivan, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Lana Del Rey.

This is the latest in a string of roles booked by the up-and-coming actress, who is set to appear in The Hunger Games prequel, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, out later this year. She will also star in an upcoming horror film opposite Dan Stevens and Jessica Henwick, and will appear in The Favourite director Yorgos Lanthimos’s next movie, AND, starring Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons.

Mother Mary, written and directed by David Lowery for A24, is expected to start filming in Germany sometime this year.
