Hunterdon Choral Alliance to present annual holiday show

The Hunterdon Choral Alliance is returning this holiday season.

The Alliance’s three member groups – Hunterdon Harmonizers, Vocal Synergy and Allegro, the newest choral group for high school students – will present an original musical comedy and holiday concert at 7 p.m. Dec. 17 and 2 p.m. Dec. 18 at Hunterdon Central Regional High School. The Red Devil Pit Orchestra of Hunterdon Central Regional High School, under the direction of Will Magalio, will also be featured.

This year’s play, “The Great North Pole Cookoff,” is a fun “reality-television-style” adventure that both children and adults alike will enjoy. The show features Santa and Mrs. Claus in a heated competition in the Kringle kitchen. Will Santa's soufflé rise to the top? How will Mrs. Claus handle the heat of Chanukah favorites? Audience members can cheer on their favorite character, gasp at the unpredictable twists, and enjoy the musical undertones as the contestants try to sing their way to the champion's table.

The fun continues with a concert of seasonal favorites by the choral groups. The evening will conclude with a timeless Harmonizers’ holiday tradition: performers and audience members will gather on stage to sing Handel's "Hallelujah Chorus" from the "Messiah" with a full orchestra.
