Hunterdon closing COVID-19 testing center on Thursday

FLEMINGTON - Hunterdon County will close its COVID-19 testing site in the Hunterdon Shopping Center at the end of June.

The site, in the former Pier I in the shopping center at the corner of Reaville Avenue and Route 202-31, will close at 4 p.m. Thursday. The site opened in February.

More than 8,000 tests have been given at the site, according to County Commissioner Shaun Van Doren.

County residents will be able to pick up free at-home COVID-19 test kits from 2 to 7 p.m. July 13 and July 20 at the County Complex on Route 12 in Raritan Township. No appointment is necessary.

Other testing sites are still open in the county and throughout the state.

“The Health Department advises that there are numerous other opportunities still available for testing,including all CVS, Rite Aid, and Walgreen pharmacies, as well as The Dr. Is In medical clinics inFlemington and Clinton, Bowkers Pharmacy in Milford, and the Holland Center Pharmacy," Van Doren said.

Though the pandemic may finally be waning, the health department will remain vigilant, Van Doren said.

“Our health team will keep a close eye on COVID-19 infections data and should there be a need to establish a clinic again, the department will be prepared to do so," he said.

On behalf of his fellow commissioners, Van Doren thanked the county employees who helped to make the test site a success and to Vault Medical Services for running the clinic.
