Hunterdon man accused of recording girl in Kohl's dressing room facing more charges

More charges have been filed against the East Amwell man who allegedly recorded a pre-teen girl in a dressing room at Kohl's in Raritan Township earlier this year.

Ron Rothman, 49, of the Ringoes section, is facing fresh charges of first-degree causing prohibited sexual acts and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée Robeson announced.

The new charges against Rothman, who is being held at the Warren County Correctional Center, were the result of an investigation by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office, the Raritan Township Police Department, the FBI and the Moulton (Alabama) Police Department.

This investigation found that Rothman allegedly was electronically exchanging images and videos of child sexual abuse with David Collier, 46, of Moulton.

Collier was arrested Aug. 28 by the Moulton Police Department with the assistance of the FBI on charges of facilitating the online solicitation of a child, facilitating solicitation of unlawful sexual conduct with a child, dissemination/display of child pornography, and production of pornography with minors.

Collier was remanded to the Lawrence County Jail in lieu of $810,000 bail, according to a report in The Moulton Advertiser.

Rothman was already facing charges of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, two counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and third- and fourth-degree invasion of privacy.

Rothman was arrested in July after a girl under the age of 13 told Raritan Township police that on March 17, an unidentified person used a cellphone to record her while she was trying on clothes in the dressing room of Kohl's on Route 202, according to the prosecutor’s office.

The investigation found that Rothman had on his cellphone recordings of the girl while she was in the changing room, authorities said.

Additional analysis of Rothman’s phone found images and videos depicting the sexual exploitation or abuse of other juveniles who have not yet been identified, Robeson said.

The ongoing investigation may result in additional charges against Rothman, according to the prosecutor.
