Hunting yetis, hockey nights and hot rods: What to do in West Michigan this weekend

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The end of the month doesn’t mean the end of the fun here in West Michigan.

Here’s a look at what you can do the weekend of Jan. 26:

Flashlight Yeti Hunt

On Friday night, grab your flashlights and head to Covenant Park in Kentwood to hunt a yeti.

The annual Flashlight Yeti Hunt will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This family-friendly event will allow you to try and find the creature and enjoy some refreshments afterward.

Inaugural Rise volleyball game

If you’re looking to start the weekend a little early, then head on down to Van Andel Arena Thursday night for the first-ever Grand Rapids Rise match.

The professional volleyball team kicks off the Pro Volleyball Federation’s inaugural season against the Columbus Fury at 7 p.m.

Harlem Globetrotters at Van Andel Arena

You’ll be hearing a lot of “Sweet Georgia Brown” at Van Andel Arena this Sunday as the Harlem Globetrotters make a stop in Grand Rapids.

You’ll see all of your favorite basketball savants as they take on the Washington Generals once again.

Griffins game and Great Skate

But before the Globetrotters come to town, you will be able to spend Saturday night (and the next 24 hours) with the Grand Rapids Griffins.

The team will host its “What Couldv’e Been Night” where the Griffins will rock their new alternate Flying Toasters jerseys. The game also kicks off the annual Great Skate at Rosa Parks Circle.

Winter Bridal Show of West Michigan

For the third straight week, brides and grooms alike can find the perfect everything at one of the premier bridal shows in the area.

The Winter Bridal Show of West Michigan will be held at DeVos Place on Saturday and feature dozens of vendors looking to make your special day extra special.

Also happening this Saturday at DeVos Place is the Kids and Family Expo.

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., check out the event, which encourages kids and families in general to spend more time together and build those memories while getting some exercise and education along the way.

Chili lovers, listen up! What better way to warm up this winter than by sampling dozens of chili recipes?

That’s exactly what you can do in St. Joseph this Friday with the annual Chili Tour. Not only will you get to taste them all but you can then vote on your favorite chili.

Enjoy everything a Michigan winter has to offer this Sunday in Rodney for the annual CranHill WinterFest.

The organization will be encouraging families to spend the day playing in the snow and getting to know one another. There will also be a free meal served.

The third annual Winter Motoring Meet at the Gilmore Car Museum is back this Saturday.

Starting at 10 a.m., you will be able to admire vehicles from this decade all the way back to before the 1960s. There will also be a parade of vehicles to see them all in action.
