Charos, a veterinary investigator and advisor to the Suffolk County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, offered tips on how to keep pets safe, according to a news release.   4. Huntington Public Library Station Branch celebrates new home. The Huntington Public Library celebrates their new home at 1335 New York Ave. The library acquired the two-story, 14,000-square-foot building on Dec. 16, according to Huntington Library Director Joanne Adam. The library had leased the first floor of the building since 1998 and began leasing the second floor in 2018."We are very excited to take ownership of the building," Adam stated via news release. "Before moving here in 1998, the Huntington Public Library Station Branch had occupied a storefront next door on New York Avenue. We've come a long way since then and today we can proudly call ourselves a permanent resource to the more than 5,600-library card-carrying patrons that call the Station Library home."   • Huntington Union Free School District: Analisse Batista is continuing a great season with the Huntington High School winter track and field team. The senior captured a pair of gold medals at the Section XI League II championships at Suffolk-West in Brentwood.
    Batista swept to victory in the 300m dash in a time of 41.91 seconds and then won the 600m run in 1:39.03. She later helped Huntington take a bronze medal in the 4x200m relay. (Facebook)
