Hurricane Delta Strengthens as It Brings Heavy Rain to Jamaica

Hurricane Delta brought heavy rainfall to Kingston, Jamaica, as it strengthened to a Category 3 storm with maximum sustained winds of 115 mph on October 6, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Weather Jamaica reported that satellite imagery now showed the hurricane to the west of Jamaica, “with a tropical wave in the eastern Caribbean that should affect the weather across Jamaica later this week,” while the hurricane’s outer bands were still affecting sections of Jamaica with rain.

Additional strengthening of Hurricane Delta is expected and it is forecast to be a major hurricane when it moves over the Yucatan Peninsula on Wednesday, October 7, the National Hurricane Center said. Credit: Sound Chat Radio via Storyful
