Hurricane Ian forces UCF to shift matchup with SMU back a day

UCF’s home game vs. SMU, originally scheduled for Saturday afternoon, has been moved to Sunday, the American Athletic Conference announced on Tuesday.

Kickoff inside FBC Mortgage Stadium between the Knights and the Mustangs is set for 1 p.m. the conference said.

The broadcast designation, on the ESPN Family of Networks, will be announced at a later date, according to the conference.

UCF Athletics, in conjunction with the AAC, continues to monitor Hurricane Ian and its potential impact on the Orlando area, the university said.

Tickets and parking for Saturday’s game will be good for admission to Sunday’s game. Fans with a UCF Athletics ticket account are encouraged to use their account manager at UCFKnights.com/login to resell any unused tickets.

UCF coach Gus Malzahn had said Monday that the Knights were preparing as usual for the AAC matchup.

“From my standpoint, I addressed our team, ‘We’re moving forward like a normal week,” he said. “Obviously, we’ll keep you updated. If things change on a daily basis, we’ll be able to adjust.’”
