Hurricane Ida Remnants Bring Damaging Flooding to Western Virginia

Heavy rainfall from Storm Ida brought flash flooding to portions of western Virginia on Monday, August 30, devastating the town of Hurley.

This video taken by Billy Bowling in Hurley, who said he took it on September 1, shows damaged structures and debris.

Crews rescued about 50 people from the flooding in Buchanan County, local news reported, with hundreds evacuated. As of the evening of August 31, one person from Hurley remained unaccounted for, according to county Sheriff John McClanahan. Credit: Billy Bowling via Storyful
