Hurricane Irma 5th anniversary: Five unforgettable photo galleries

Saturday marks the fifth anniversary for Hurricane Irma in Southwest Florida.

It's not something you celebrate, but it is something that you never forget because of the significant impact the Category 3 storm had on people, pets, businesses and the landscape from Marco Island to Cape Coral.

When Hurricane Irma arrived on Sept. 10, 2017 it became an historic event — from the number of people who evacuated to the number of homes damaged by flooding. According to the National Hurricane Center Hurricane Irma ranks No. 6 all-time on the costliest hurricane list at $52.1 billion.

Here are five photos galleries from our archives produced by The News-Press and Naples Daily News visuals team to commemorate the five-year anniversary of Hurricane Irma:

1. What was preparation like before Irma hit?

2. Evacuations were a significant part of the Irma story
