See how Hurricane Lee could impact your weekend at the Jersey Shore

Hurricane Lee is traveling up the Atlantic Ocean, but the National Weather Service believes its projected path does not include New Jersey.

But Lee's impact may affect Jersey Shore waters over the weekend, according to Ray Martin, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service at Mount Holly. As of now, the weather forecast indicates it will will be partly sunny, with windy skies and temperatures in the mid- to low 70s.

What category is Hurricane Lee?

Hurricane Lee is a category 3 storm: a major hurricane with winds between 111 mph and 129 mph. For a storm of that magnitude, devastating damage can occur to homes, as well as causing trees to snap or uproot.

What is Hurricane Lee’s projected path?

The current path Hurricane Lee is moving along the North Atlantic Ocean west of Bermuda and east of Cape Cod.

"But once you get that far out, by Friday night or Saturday the uncertainty grows significantly," Martin said. "Hurricane Lee could go anywhere from New England to Nova Scotia at this point, but right now the most likely track is west of Bermuda and East of Cape Cod."

Will Hurricane Lee land in New Jersey?

The odds of Hurricane Lee landing in New Jersey are less than 5 percent, Martin said.

What can the Jersey Shore expect from Hurricane Lee?

The Jersey Shore will most likely receive high surf and dangerous, high rip currents and clouds, Martin said.

"New Jersey residents need to keep aware of the system because as we've seen many times before, they can change directions," Martin added. "It can make a turn that we are not expecting."
