Hurricane man faces murder charge after shooting, killing father-of-three outside of a bar

A Hurricane man was charged with aggravated murder on Monday after allegedly shooting and killing another man outside of a bar.

Bryan Edwin Hill, 55, was booked into jail and held without bail on multiple felony charges, including aggravated murder and using a concealed weapon in the commission of a violent crime.

A police report and witnesses accuse Hill of shooting 41-year-old Sean Moore, a local softball coach and father of three, outside the Eagles Lodge at about 11 p.m. and then chasing another person around a car and making more threats with the gun before driving away.

Witnesses told police that Hill had become belligerent inside the bar and that Moore had interceded and taken Hill outside. Once outside, Hill pulled out a gun and shot Moore, they said.

When police arrived, witnesses identified Hill as the suspect and officers with the Hurricane PD later found him at his home and arrested him without incident. He was slurring his speech and showed other signs of impairment, according to arresting documents filed in 5th District Court, and admitted to shooting Moore but claimed it was in self-defense.

"During the interview, Bryan changed the details of his story numerous times," according to the report.

When officers reviewed security footage of the incident, they saw Moore pushing Hill outside the door to the business. Hill then pulled a firearm from his waistband area and fired at Moore, who immediately fell backward.

"Bryan then walked toward the victim and began motioning at him while the victim laid on the ground," according to the report.

Another witness said Hill had followed him around a nearby vehicle after the shooting and pointed the gun at him more than once.

After a subsequent interview with Hill, police retrieved from his trailer the firearm believed to have been used in the incident.

Hill was booked into Purgatory Correctional Facility and held without bail.

Friends and family of Moore described him as being a peacemaker in the incident.

A family friend set up a GoFundMe account to help cover expenses for Moore's family. He is survived by his wife and three daughters.
