Hurricane Season 2022 close to average

We had 14 named storms, 8 became hurricanes and two major. It was a slow start with only three tropical storms in June and July and no activity in August. September was active. 6 tropical storms, 4 became hurricanes and two major. Fiona was the first major hurricane. It hit Puerto Rico as a Cat 1 hurricane and then crossed the Mona Passage and hit the DR. Ian started as a tropical wave off moving off of Africa, and rapidly intensified before hitting Cuba as a Cat 3 hurricane. It rapidly intensified in the Gulf of Mexico and hit near Fort Myers, Florida as a Cat 4 with winds of 150 mph.
