As hurricane season starts June 1, NHC says no tropical cyclones expected, for now
Every year from 2015 to 2021, the Atlantic hurricane season got an early start. Based on forecasts from the National Hurricane Center in Miami, it doesn't look like that'll happen in 2023.
No tropical cyclones are expected over the next seven days, according to the National Hurricane Center.

The 2023 Atlantic hurricane season officially begins June 1 and runs through Nov. 30, though the National Hurricane Center began issuing daily tropical weather outlooks May 15.
Did 2023 hurricane season start early?
So far, no. While there was a formation of a subtropical storm in mid-January, the short-lived storm did not affect land.
Previously, the 2016 Atlantic hurricane season kicked off Jan. 12 with Hurricane Alex. According to the Weather Channel, Alex was the second Atlantic hurricane on record to start in January (Hurricane Alice formed on New Year's Eve 1954).
The first named storm of the 2023 Atlantic hurricane season will be Arlene.

When is the Atlantic hurricane season?
The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 through Nov. 30.
When is the peak of hurricane season?
The peak of the season is Sept. 10, with the most activity happening between mid-August and mid-October, according to the Hurricane Center.
