Former Miami Hurricanes baseball coach Jim Morris added another honor to his lauded career on Wednesday.

The two-time College World Series champion was selected to the American Baseball Coaches Association 2024 Hall of Fame class along with nine other college and high school baseball coaches. Former Nova High baseball coach Pat McQuaid is also a member of the class. The formal induction will be held at the 80th annual ABCA convention on Jan. 5, 2024.

The other eight Hall of Fame inductees are: Cal Bailey (West Virginia), Danny Hall (Georgia Tech), Brian O’Connor (Virginia), Tim Pettorini (The College of Wooster-Ohio), John Vodenlich (Wisconsin-Whitewater), Jim Wells (Alabama), Wayne Welton (Chelsea High School) and Jeff Willis (LSU Eunice).

Morris, who coached the Hurricanes from 1994-2018, went 1,090-472-3 during his Miami tenure. Before arriving at UM, he won 500 games with Georgia Tech. He reached the College World Series 13 times and was named ACC coach of the year four times.

Morris has already been inducted into the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame and the College Baseball Hall of Fame.

McQuaid was also a major presence on the South Florida baseball scene. He won 945 games with the Titans over 44 seasons before retiring following the pandemic-shortened 2020 season.

McQuaid won 18 district titles, two state championships and a national title. He is also a member of the Florida High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame, the Broward County Sports Hall of Fame and the Florida Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

McQuaid coached several eventual professional players, including 12-year major-leaguer and World Series champion Mike Morse and pitcher Anthony Swarzak.
