Hurricanes land Nebraska running back transfer Ajay Allen
The Miami Hurricanes picked up a transfer at a crucial position on Monday.
Former Nebraska running back Ajay Allen announced he will transfer to Miami, giving the Hurricanes more depth at the position.
Allen, who is entering his second season of college football, played in four games for the Cornhuskers in 2022. He ran for 190 yards and three touchdowns on 33 carries. Pro Football Focus game him a 78.1 offensive grade and a 79.8 rushing grade in his limited action last year after suffering a season-ending collarbone injury on Sept. 17.
Allen, a Louisiana native, was rated a three-star prospect and the No. 40 running back in the 2022 class, according to 247Sports’ compose rankings.
Miami lost running back Jaylan Knighton to the transfer portal, with Knighton landing at SMU. But the Hurricanes return last year’s leading rusher, Henry Parrish Jr. Also returning are Don Chaney Jr. and TreVonte’ Citizen. Chaney missed all but one game last year due to injury. Citizen, a highly touted freshman, missed the entire season with an injury.
Allen is the only running back the Hurricanes have added in the transfer portal, but they signed four-star running backs Mark Fletcher and Chris Johnson in the 2023 recruiting class.
